The second European Women In Agribusiness (WIA) conference will be held this October in Brussels.

The event, which mirrors similar events held in North America since 2012, aims to keeping women informed of the latest trends in the agrifood industry. The organisers say that many studies show the benefits of building a gender diverse workforce, but the agrifood sector has not taken full advantage of this. The WIA aims to support women and businesses in the industry in recruiting, retaining and promoting women in the agrifood sector.

The one day event in Brussels on Wednesday October 11th 2017 in Brussels will examine opportunities and challenges for European producers; Free trade and globalization – the Impact of recent political dynamics on agriculture and Current regulatory effects on European agriculture. There will be a session on Transforming the workplace: strategies used in agriculture to support women and an executive roundtable spotlighting three senior women in agriculture.

The WIA advisory board includes Dr Teresa Babuscio, secretary general of Coceral; Jaine Chisholm Caunt, director of Gafta; Ioana Tudor, head of diverse field crops at Syngenta and Ofelia Nalbant commercial manager for Agrium-Agroport.
