The Dutch multinational feed manufacturer Nutreco has completed its acquisition of Hi-Pro Feeds, the Canadian business with 15 feed mills in Western Canada and three states in the south west US, which was first announced in February.
Following the closure, Nutreco is to integrate its three North American animal nutrition businesses – Shur-Gain, Landmark and Hi-Pro Feeds – under the Trouw Nutrition banner, a move that brings the region into line with the rest the world.
Shur-Gain will become the main product brand for all premixes, farm minerals, concentrates and complete feeds in Canada, with the Shur-Gain dealer network retaining its existing branding. Meanwhile Trouw Nutrition USA will use both the Hi-Pro Feeds and Shur-Gain product brands.
“This rebranding will link our value proposition to our customers more directly with Trouw Nutrition’s portfolio of products, animal production models and services as well as its global R&D resource,” says Jacques Leclerc, managing director of Trouw Nutrition Canada. One of Trouw Nutrition’s five global R&D Centres is located in Ontario.
Daren Kennett, founder of Hi-Pro Feeds, adds: “We are excited about the opportunities this acquisition brings to our customers and employees in Canada and the US. As a global animal nutrition company, Trouw Nutrition has the resources and network available to create additional value for our customers through an expanded offering of proprietary nutritional products, animal production models and services.”
