Independent UK plant breeder and seeds supplier Elsoms Seeds has made some changes to its senior leadership team. Through giving existing executives additional responsibilities, the business is building on its strengths for the future, it says.

The new company structure sees Roger Keeling retain the role of chairman with Robin Wood becoming deputy chairman and commercial director on the Elsoms board. At the same time, Anthony Keeling steps down as deputy chairman, but will continues as a company director and as deputy chairman of the holding company Elsoms (Spalding).

David Coop, who Joined Elsoms in November 2016 as business development manager, is appointedto the new position of research, development and marketing director to managing the R&D team while retaining responsibility for the company’s marketing activities. Former head of R&D Sue Kennedy will move into an advisory role working closely with Mr Coop. The development projects pipeline she delivered over recent years will be key to the company’s future growth.

Finance director Andrew Davis takes on responsibility for warehouse activities as finance and logistics director, in addition to his existing role in finance; human resources; health and safety; and IT.

Chairman Roger Keeling says the changes reflect Elsoms’ strong vegetable portfolio, successful wheats, expanded seed treatment business and the new barley breeding programme. “The expansion of our senior team puts Elsoms in a great position to build on recent growth and to continue delivering for our customers and partners.
