Milk buyer and dairy products manufacturer Meadow Foods has acquired Fayrefield Liquids, the UK milk procurement arm of the Fayrefield Group. It says the deal, for an undisclosed sum, is part of its strategy to grow through organic expansion and acquisition.
“The acquisition of Fayrefield Liquid’s producers was a logical step for Meadow Foods as we have integrated our milk collections for a number of years,” says Meadow Foods’ director of milk procurement and logistics Jim Bebb. “We are delighted to welcome the valued producers to Meadow Foods and we plan to meet with them face to face to introduce ourselves in the coming weeks.”
With its headquarters production site near Chester, Meadow Foods has two further facilities at Peterborough and Holme-on-Spalding Moor in East Yorkshire. It has a turnover of around £340 million, handling over 650 million litres of milk per annum from 650 farmer suppliers, as well as manufacturing 100,000 tonnes of dairy ingredients.
The Fayrefield Group, based in Crewe, has even dairy commodity trading and packing businesses across the UK, Germany, Scandinavia and Spain.
