Carrs Billington Agriculture (CBA), a division of the Carlisle-based Carr’s Group, has acquired rural retail business Pearson Farm Supplies. The deal, for an undisclosed sum, brings the CBA chain of stores up to 35 branches.

Pearson Farm Supplies was established by Chris Pearson on the family farm at West Marton near Skipton in 2007 to specialise in animal health products. As well as the main country store, it has a branch in Anglesey and a number of outlets at livestock marts in Lancashire and Yorkshire.

Carr’s says the acquisition, which becomes part of the Carrs Billington retail network, extends the company’s geographical reach as well as expanding the business.

“This acquisition is a great step forward for Carrs Billington and I am thrilled to be welcoming Chris and his team to the Group,” comments CBA managing director Rae Tomlinson. “Pearson Farm Supplies has a long standing history as a major agricultural supplier and fits perfectly with Carrs Billington’s strategic objectives. We will continue to invest in the business and ensure its ongoing development and success.”

Mr Pearson adds:  “We are delighted to be joining Carrs Billington. They have an excellent track record and are committed to growing our business. We look forward to working with Rae and his team over the months and years ahead.”
