The Society of Feed Technologists (SFT) is running an Introduction to the Animal Feed Industry course on Thursday March 1st 2018 at Telford, as part of its NextGen initiative. It is aimed at recent recruits to the sector over the last three years or so.

The seminar will reflect the views of participants at the initial NextGen meeting at the SFT’s 50th Anniversary last year. It will feature David Wilde of Anpario on the structure of the animal feed industry; an introduction to feed assurance schemes, particularly UFAS, from Victoria Buxton of Apheya Animal Nutrition; and Paul Poornan of Humphrey Feeds and Pullets covering current issues affecting the feed industry.

The charge is £35 + VAT (£10.00 for students).

The SFT is also administering the latest John Edgar bursary for a researcher in the animal feed industry, which is open until May 31st 2018.

The £2,500 award is made to a research-based project in any area of livestock feeding including animal nutrition and management, feed production and marketing, and can be undertaken in the UK or abroad. The winning entry will be decided by a panel of judges selected by the Trustees of the Edgar Pye Research Scholarship Trust.

Applicants must be resident in the UK or Ireland, and either studying agriculture or a related subject, or already employed in the animal feed industry. The award is sponsored by Anpario; De Lacy; DSM, Premier Nutrition; Thompsons of Belfast and Trouw Nutrition GB.
