The Wynnstay Group has acquired an independent rural retail business to bring its Wynnstay Stores chain up to 51 outlets.

The Group has bought family-owned M D Lloyd & Son, which has traded from premises at Cross Inn, Llandysul in the county of Ceredigion for over 60 years. Under its new ownership, the business will continue to supply agricultural products, with Wynnstay’s scale enabling an expansion of the range of goods and services on offer.

“M D Lloyd has a very loyal customer base and we are looking forward to working with John Lloyd and the team to develop the product offering for customers in the region,” says Andrew Evans, retail director at Wynnstay. “Customers will continue to receive high quality products as well as the advice and excellent service they have been accustomed to.”

Mr Lloyd adds: “Meryl and I believe this is a fantastic opportunity to develop the range of products and services available from the store to our loyal customers in the region. Working with Wynnstay, we will continue to give first class service and competitive prices. We have exciting plans for the further development of our store at Cross Inn and look forward to sharing these with our customers in the future.”
