The Abbey Logistics Group, the road haulage company that claims to be the UK’s largest mover of bulk liquids and powders, has formed a dedicated animal feeds division.
The company, based at Golborne between Manchester and Liverpool, says the new animal feed tanker transport division will provide a nationwide bulk transport and logistics service for liquid animal feeds. It notes that the current animal feed transport market is “relatively regionalised”.
The business has been servicing animal feed customers in the UK and Europe for over 20 years. But it says the latest development will enable it to dedicate vehicles and tankers to the animal feed sector, with the exclusive support of planning and commercial teams solely focussed on feed industry customers.
“As one of the UK’s leading bulk liquid tanker companies, Abbey has a transport and depot network in place throughout the UK that supports its key contracts with volume fluctuation and seasonal demand variance,” states Abbey Logistics’ animal feed commercial manager Sophie Lucy. “This expertise has proved highly effective in serving existing liquid animal feed customers, so the creation of a dedicated division was a natural progression.
“We know from customers in other sectors how much value is placed on having a dedicated planning resource, customer service contact and tailored management information. We are now replicating this for our animal feed customers – they can expect greater visibility of their products, increased transport reliability and the capacity to strategically plan and forecast. Our planning team has significant experience in the sector and we have selected drivers with considerable experience in liquid animal feed.”
Abbey, formed in 1973, moves food grade products; non-hazardous chemicals; minerals; cement and aggregates as well as liquid feeds. It also provides warehousing, European distribution and intermodal logistics services. It has TASCC and FIAS accreditation.
