Multinational livestock trace minerals specialist Zinpro Corporation has grown its US presence through the acquisition of two businesses that market water-soluble animal feed products. It says the move will create nutritional synergies to improve animal wellness and performance.
Minnesota-based Zinpro has bought Paragon Specialty Products (PSP) of Alabama, and CouvLotta of Texas, with both transactions expected to complete on November 1st. All three companies are privately held, with no financial details available. PSP and CouvLotta will continue to trade from their present locations under existing management.
Paragon, trading since 1999, makes probiotic, electrolyte and vitamin additives for cattle, pigs poultry and aquaculture species. CouvLotta was created in 2015 to specialise in antibiotic-free additives for cattle, pigs, poultry, aquaculture and pet animals. Both have a common shareholder in the Couvillion family, and have used Zinpro trace elements in their formulations.
“These two US companies will help grow our global performance-trace-mineral nutrition business,” says Zinpro president and chief executive Bill Scrimgeour. “Both provide innovative, customizable and proprietary nutritional solutions for improved animal wellness and performance, plus nutritional support products for optimising animal care.”
Joey Couvillion, co-founder of PSP and CouvLotta, adds: “Teaming up with Zinpro will accelerate growth and new business opportunities for everyone involved,” says Couvillion. “The combined knowledge, enthusiasm and technical expertise will generate even more momentum to develop and launch improved animal nutrition products than as separate entities.”
