Fram Farmers has recruited Gordon Cummings to fill the newly created post of strategic partnerships manager.
Mr Cummings joins the Suffolk-based co-operative with over 40 years’ experience in the agricultural machinery industry, with spells at Shelbourne Reynolds Engineering, Peacock & Binnington, Claas UK and Louth Tractors. In his new post, he will be responsible for maintaining and developing Fram Farmers’ existing partnerships with machinery and vehicle manufacturers whilst developing new collaborations to generate savings and benefits for Fram Farmers members.
“Post-Brexit, government support for the agricultural sector will change and controlling production costs will become increasingly important for UK farms”, notes Mr Cummings.
“The role of true members’ co-operative, collectively purchasing inputs on behalf of its members, can only increase.
Machinery is a key input for all farming businesses and accounts for a significant proportion of their overall costs, so my role is to help our members achieve the best-possible value for money when purchasing new machinery and services. I aim to increase the range and scope of strategic partnerships with manufacturers, as well as developing new initiatives so that we can offer members even greater choice and value.”
