An online precision crop protection resource from Adama Agricultural Solutions UK will give arable growers and their agronomy advisers up-to-date advice on how best to protect barley and wheat crops from key disease threats this spring.

The new Precision Crop Protection knowledge hub will carry useful information that has been designed to help arable growers deal effectively and efficiently with the key diseases that affect barley and wheat.

The hub will provide weekly crop management advice and seasonal updates on a range of topics including the prevention and cure of key barley diseases such as rhynchosporium, ramularia and net blotch. It will present the latest industry thoughts on how, when and what to use at the key crop protection timings. A key message will be that growers need to use a diversity of modes of action in their spring spray programmes, not only to provide robust protection against disease threats, but also to prolong the effective life of key SDHIs, azoles and strobilurins, which are under increasing pressure from sensitivity shifts and resistance.

In addition, the hub will focus on the importance of taking an integrated approach to disease management. It will present advice on how to use cultural techniques, disease resistant varieties and the latest disease forecasting tools to reduce the initial risk of infection, and how existing disease stresses can be managed in a sustainable manner. There will also be regular updates and input from Andy Bailey, ADAMA’s fungicide technical specialist, and the Precision Crop Protection spring hub will also provide useful information and video guides from a selection of third-party organisations, agronomists and farmers.
