Perstorp, the Swedish multinational specialty chemicals business best known in agriculture for feed additives, has entered the plant nutrition market through the launch of a chloride-free foliar potassium product.

Amicult K42 is a liquid fertiliser component that is said to have a high solubility and absorption rate, without increasing salinity or clogging foliar and drip irrigation systems. Amicult K42 is now being launched in selected markets.

As crops need nutrients at different growth stages, liquid fertiliser allows the more precise application of potassium at the right development stage, notes the company. In agricultural regions of the world where salination is an issue, high chloride levels can adversely affect crop development. Amicult K42’s low salt index reduces this risk while its high solubility particularly suits drip irrigation systems.

“With high-salinity and arid agricultural land increasing, it’s time for more refined fertiliser options,” says Claudio Gaino, vice-president formates at Perstorp. “After years of innovation work, Perstorp Amicult offers a chloride-free potassium-based product tested and proven to have high absorption and solubility, without increasing soil salinity or causing clogging in foliar and drip irrigation systems. Amicult is the smart way to increase profitability, improving crop yield and water use efficiency.”

Amicult K42 will initially be available in Europe, Brazil, Chile and the US through Perstorp direct sales and Perstorp’s storefront at
