Agricultural sciences company FMC has appointed Dr Conor O’Flaherty as its new UK commercial technical manager. He joins FMC from Alltech, where he was a research agronomist in the R&D sector and will be based in East Anglia.
Dr O’Flaherty has a PhD from University College Dublin, focusing on the effects of fermentation based biostimulants on soil nutrient availability in winter cereals. “I believe this, along with my experience in the sector, will set me up well for this technical role at FMC,” he says.
“At my previous company I was running the field trials programme on a 40ha research farm where I was looking at the effects of trace element nutrition and biostimulants on crop quality and yield. I’m really excited about this new position and to be involved in such a forward-thinking and growing company with an excellent R&D product pipeline.”
Gareth Jones, FMC technical leader UK, adds: “FMC has grown significantly in recent years and, with a strong product portfolio and pipeline, we felt now was the perfect time to extend our technical team to help support the industry and our customers in this key region.”
