Encapsulated biopesticide specialist Eden Research has appointed Dr Aoife Dillon as its head of biology.

Dr Dillon’s 20 year career has covered regulatory affairs in plant protection products and biostimulants alongside the co-ordination of international crop trials. She spent the last three years as technical director for the EMEAA region at biologicals maker Plant Health Care, following a period as chief technology officer for Exosect which formulates biological and synthetic compounds for agriculture. Earlier employers include BASF, the Horticultural Development Company and Coillte.

Her new role at Eden carries global responsibility for developing the company’s product pipeline in close work with its growing R&D team and new laboratory. She will be heavily involved in assessing the efficacy and safety of new formulations and running commercial scale trials.

“Aoife brings an impressive range of senior executive experience and the ability to engage with and influence key stakeholders in the development and commercialisation of biocontrol products,” says Eden chief executive Sean Smith.

“She has a track record of driving change, as well as developing and delivering on sustainability standards which are at the core of Eden’s proposition. Her presence at our new laboratory facilities will be integral as we ramp up our in-house capabilities to develop our product pipeline.”
