AIC has announced the launch of its consultation on the draft Fertiliser Industry Assurance Scheme (FIAS) 2021 Standard, which is due to be introduced on 1st February 2021.

The FIAS Review Group and Working Group has reviewed the current FIAS 2016 standard over the past year. The Group’s aim was to clarify, simplify and emphasise the FIAS principles of legislation, security, product safety, traceability and good practice for fertiliser manufacture, storage, sales and haulage.

Proposed key changes include: merging previously separate documents into a single FIAS standard with colour-coded sections; a change to the numbering and format similar to that of the AIC TASCC scheme; clarification of requirements for derogation of contractors; rewording product recall requirements; updates to legislation or guidance where applicable and the provision of links to relevant documents for online users. There will be guidance and templates on the AIC website to accompany the new standard.

Consultation documents are available on the AIC’s website at www.aictradeassurance.org.uk/fias/documents/fias-standards-consultation-2021.

Responses should be sent via email to Roberta Reeve, roberta.reeve@agindustries.org.uk, by 5pm on Wednesday 9th September.
