The Port of Tilbury is ready to restart operations after the explosion at the Tilbury Grain Terminal on Friday July 3rd.

Peter Ward, commercial director at the Port of Tilbury says there will be a phased start-up of operations from Monday August 10th at the facility.

Mr Ward notes that grain handling and storage services are already operating as usual, by using on-site storage complemented by increased capacity at a significant offsite storage facility. He adds that the phased return to full operations is a credit to the port team and their work to restore the facility during these challenging times. He also thanked customers for their continued support as the port and its staff worked towards a return to full operations.

Although a comprehensive investigation continues into the cause of the explosion, the Port of Tilbury does not expect to know the outcome for some time.
