Crop protection product manufacturer Adama Agricultural Solutions has appointed Bill Lankford to its UK technical and marketing team as a technical specialist. He succeeds the company’s herbicide technical specialist David Roberts, who has been promoted to European product strategy manager.
Dr Lankford, with more than 30 years’ experience in UK agriculture, has been UK country manager for Life Scientific since 2017. He established the Irish company’s UK commercial business and successfully launched the UK’s first post-patent mesosulfuron-based herbicides. The first 15 years of his career were in agrochemical R&D with NCH Europe, Rhône-Poulenc and Aventis, with subsequent commercial roles at Bayer Crop Science and KWS.
Dr Lankford’s new role carries responsibility for promoting the safe, appropriate and responsible use of Adama’s wide ranging portfolio of professional herbicides. He will work with Adama’s regulatory, technical and marketing teams to progress the development of a pipeline of post-patent herbicide combinations. This includes the Alomax range of blackgrass herbicides – a series of three formulations, all of which will contain three active ingredients and three modes of action.
Dr Lankford will also be responsible for implementing tactical product campaigns for the company’s existing range of herbicides and for communicating key trials results and technical product data to Adama’s key customers, agronomists and the wider associated trade.
“David’s expertise and passion will be sorely missed by everyone within the UK team, but we are excited for his future prospects within the wider Adama organisation,” says Adama UK’s technical and marketing director Alison Bosher.
“Bill is well-known and respected within the UK’s crop protection industry and I know his experience and knowledge will greatly compensate for David’s departure. I look forward to working alongside him to promote the best use of Adama’s current and future cereal, oilseed rape, pulse and vegetable herbicides.”
