Plant breeder Limagrain has made two appointments with national responsibilities to its commercial team. John Spence is promoted to forage crops product manager while Tom Barker joins the company as cereals and pulses product manager.

Mr Spence has almost 20 years’ agronomy experience. From a Lincolnshire arable family farming background, he started his career at Eurofins UK as a trials agronomist for arable and forage crops before moving to Limagrain in 2006. He was formerly the company’s forage crops seed sales specialist for the Midlands and northern England.

Tom Barker, from a Suffolk farming family, has spent the last 12 years as a farm trader for Nidera/COFCO International, with additional assistant seed manager responsibility over the last twelve months. He will be based at Limagrain’s wheat breeding centre at Woolpit near Bury St Edmunds.

“Both John and Tom have wide experience in their sectors to bring to their new roles,” comments Limagrain business area director for north west Europe Jonathan Tann.

“Limagrain is best placed of all the plant breeders and seed suppliers to recognise and respond to many of the issues facing UK growers now and over the next 10 years. By strengthening our commercial teams, we will make sure we bring the latest developments and provide the technical support to our customers.”
