Premium Crops, the specialty crops subsidiary of Cefetra, has appointed Fraser Hill as a trainee company agronomist. He will work alongside the two existing company agronomists Hannah Foxall and Lorna Evans.
Mr Hill grew up on the family farm in Dorset and gained a degree in Environmental Management at Reading. Since graduating, he has spent a harvest working for corporate farmer Sentry and four years with Cefetra Wessex in grain store management.
“As the environment plays an ever-greater role in UK agriculture, speciality and niche crops offer an alternative to traditional break crops such as OSR. The associated demand for agronomy in these areas can only increase, which I hope will allow me to bring my hard work and passion to this role,” says Mr Hill.
In his new post, Mr Hill will report to Hannah Foxall, Premium Crops’ most experienced company agronomist. “Fraser’s appointment illustrates Premium Crops commitment to our growers and UK agriculture as a whole,” she says. “Our aim is always to improve the returns that our growers can achieve, not just through improved yield and quality but also through the careful management of crop inputs to provide greater efficiency and maximum returns. Fraser has already successfully completed the Fodder and Oilseeds Crop Inspecting Course, so he’ll be out and about this year checking the quality of our seed production crops.”
