Feed manufacturer ForFarmers won the contract to handle the YeastPro supply contract, following a successful tender earlier this year.
The Yeast Pro liquid feed co-product, which originates from a human food manufacturing process, and will be available to customers throughout Scotland and the north of England. Most of it will be targeted at pig producers who use a home mix feeding system. The rootlet fraction – sprouted barley from the starch to available sugar conversion – will be used for the company’s dairy and beef ruminant customers.
Yeast Pro is described as a high protein feed with excellent digestible energy that is easily handled and stores well.
“This is a great result for us,” says ForFarmers’ trading manager Paula Parker. “YeastPro is a quality product and we’re delighted we can now offer it to our customers as part of our wider dry, moist and liquid feed range. We know that demand will be high for this nutritious feed so we’re working with customers now to plan for its inclusion in their overall feeding regime.”
