Qualified veterinary surgeon Dr Lawrence Brown has joined CIEL, the UK’s livestock innovation centre, as animal health and aquaculture specialist, a new role for the organisation. CIEL intends to use the post to develop its activity in the aquaculture area.

Dr Brown has international experience of working in clinical practice and the wider animal health sector, including in aquaculture. His previous roles include being part of a European team that launched a new active molecule for managing cardiovascular disease to the UK veterinary market. As part of his international work, Dr Brown witnessed the latest innovations in animal health and expanded his global network, and he hopes to bring this worldwide perspective to companies in the UK sector.

“I’m very much looking forward to being a part of CIEL’s expansion,” says Dr Brown “This is a really exciting time for the sector as it seeks to improve the sustainability of livestock farming. Now is a great opportunity for businesses to capitalise on CIEL’s collaborative network of research expertise to include those seeking to establish new relationships across aquaculture.”

CIEL CEO Lyndsay Chapman believes Dr Brown’s international experience in the sector will prove invaluable. “This further expansion of the team will mean that CIEL will have someone dedicated to identifying and driving opportunities within animal health and our wider network, adding value to CIEL members active in the sector.”
