Crop production specialist Hutchinsons has announced a series of transitions in its senior management team. It says the changes are a strategic preparation for the future by appointing skilled individuals to lead the 85-year old company towards its centenary.
David Hutchinson, chairman of H L Hutchinson and the wider Hutchinson Group since 2008, will relinquish the former role to focus on the Group chairmanship, while remaining a director of H L Hutchinson and continuing to support colleagues and the business strategy. “The move recognises the growth and scale of the business and will allow me time to contribute for years to come,” he says.
Current H L Hutchinson managing director Andrew McShane succeeds David as chairman of the business. Mr McShane has been with the business since 1993, with the last 16 as managing director. This new role will allow him to explore the myriad of opportunities for further business development and growth.
Gordon McKechnie
Gordon McKechnie, currently Hutchinsons finance director, becomes managing director. From a farming background, with more than a decade of senior leadership experience in agriculture, Gordon joined Hutchinsons in 2020. He has since proven himself as a capable leader and made a significant contribution to the business during this time, says the company.
