JSR Farming acquires Isuria

The JSR Farming Group has acquired the Isuria feed manufacturing and feed materials trading business in a move it says will expand its feed and commodity expertise as part of its commitment to developing high-quality agricultural products.

Isuria was first established as Yorkshire Feeds at Goole in 1996, to trade feed commodities to customers in Lincolnshire and Yorkshire. In 2002 it created Yorkshire Shipping, with Humberside offices at Hull and Immingham, and four years later added a feed plant in Goole to manufacture rumen by-pass proteins alongside finished pig and poultry feeds. The business also has a haulage division. In 2022 it moved to a new headquarters in Hessle, with the name change to Isuria in October 2024.

JSR is based at Southburn near Driffield. In January this year it sold its pig breeding business JSR Genetics alongside its pig rearing operations to the integrated pig and poultry production and processing company Cranswick.

The company says the acquisition will combine JSR’s strong foundation in arable farming and animal feed production with Isuria’s expertise in sourcing, trading and transporting agricultural raw materials. It adds that the two family-owned businesses share values of reputation, integrity, innovation, and respect for their staff, clients and suppliers – making them an excellent fit. All 32 Isuria employees will transfer to JSR.

“We’ve known the team at Isuria for many years, and have always respected the way it does business,” comments JSR Farming Group chairman Bernard Hoggarth. “Its knowledge of trading, specialist feeds and logistics really complements what we’re already doing at JSR. This feels like a natural fit for both sides – two family-run businesses coming together with shared values and a common goal to grow and be the industry leaders with service and price.”

For Isuria, founder and managing director Gina Brown adds: “Joining JSR marks an exciting new chapter for our team. We’re proud of the business we’ve built and the relationships we’ve formed over the years. Becoming part of JSR allows us to continue delivering the same high standards while benefiting from the scale, investment and long-term vision of a larger group. It’s a great opportunity for our people and our customers.”
