Feed manufacturer the Massey Harpers Feed Group is investing to expand its poultry feed output and UK service team in the UK, in response to rising demand for layer feeds. It says the move signals a strategic focus on the monogastric sector, particularly in the south and southwest of England.
The Group has three manufacturing sites in the UK – its original site at Holmes Chapel in Cheshire, the former Dalgety mill at Preston in Lancashire and the Holsworthy facility in Devon acquired with Harpers Feeds in 2012. The business, a specialist supplier of layer feed with technical support throughout the UK, says it has seen significant growth in demand for poultry feed over recent years.
“Strong demand within the layers sector has led us to commit to a significant investment of £1 million in two new state-of-the-art variable speed grinders at our Holsworthy Mill, along with recruiting James Miller to lead activity in the field,” says Isaac Green, sales manager at Massey Feeds. “This is a major change to our infrastructure at Harpers Feeds in the southwest and demonstrates our continued commitment to the poultry sector and enthusiasm for this growing and progressive industry.”
Mr Green adds that egg producers in the region will benefit from the experience of Massey Feeds specialists who have been instrumental in developing the team at Harpers Feeds. “They have also consulted with egg packers to ensure they provide their customers with the required bespoke specifications,” he states. “This is critical for egg producers – especially the growing number of new entrants – to ensure the best results are achieved.”
