Industry leaders say the government’s strategy for leaving the EU, spelt out by prime minister Theresa May today, is a huge threat to the domestic food and agriculture industries. A phased transition would be better than a “cliff edge” break, while the government should offer the industry some clear benefits from leaving the EU, such as a science-based UK regulatory system.
